MayaMaya Terms and Definitions

This page explains common terms you will see in MayaMaya, grouped by area. Each term links to the article where you can learn more.

General

  • MayaMaya – a talent intelligence platform from Catenate Corp, made up of the Assessment and the Business Console. See What Is MayaMaya?.
  • Assessment – the area where individuals take the MayaMaya assessment, build a Skills Profile, and view their reports.
  • Business Console – the area where organizations manage people and use talent insights. See Navigating the Business Console.
  • Portal Selector page – the page shown after you sign in, where you choose Start Assessment or Access Business Console.
  • Individual User / Business User – the two options you choose from when you sign up. Individual Users use the Assessment. Business Users can use both the Assessment and the Business Console.
  • Organization – a company, institution, or group that uses MayaMaya. Your account can belong to more than one organization. See Switching Between Organizations.
  • Default Organization – the organization that opens automatically when you sign in to the Business Console.
  • Organization Code – a unique code for your organization, used by partner organizations to connect with you.

Assessment and reports

  • Quiz – the adaptive MayaMaya assessment. The questions you see depend on your earlier answers. See Completing the MayaMaya Assessment.
  • 27 questions – the number of questions needed to generate a report. Each additional set of 27 questions generates a new report.
  • Skills Profile – the profile you build in Build Your Profile: education, current role, job tasks, skills, resume, Career Identity Statement, and future aspirations. See Building Your Skills Profile.
  • Career Identity Statement – a short AI-drafted summary of who you are professionally. You can edit it.
  • Report – the AI-generated Skill Analysis & Upskilling Strategy PDF, available in 12 languages. See Understanding Your MayaMaya Report.
  • What Changed? – a summary on the Reports tab showing how your results changed from one report to the next.

Skills and scores

  • Soft skills – the ten core soft skills MayaMaya measures: Adaptability, Attention to Detail, Communication, Creativity, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership, Problem-Solving, Teamwork, Time Management, and Work Ethic. Each is made up of more specific skills, such as Active Listening under Communication. In total, MayaMaya measures 84 specific soft skills.
  • Job skills – technical and role-specific skills, such as tools, methods, and knowledge areas, taken from a person's Skills Profile and resume.
  • Values (Life Vectors) – four measures of what motivates a person at work:
    1. Spirit – enthusiasm, motivation, and positive attitude toward work and colleagues.
    2. Purpose – alignment with an organization's mission and finding meaning in work.
    3. Profession – commitment to high professional standards and ethical practice.
    4. Reward – motivation from recognition, compensation, and career advancement.
  • Scores – MayaMaya scores skills and values from 0 to 10. A person's own report shows the same scores on a 5-point scale (the 10-point score divided by two).
  • Skill gap – a skill where a person's current level is below what a role or team requires.
  • Learning path – recommended courses and a three-stage learning journey (Beginner, Practice, Review) for closing a skill gap. See Using Upskill Insights and Learning Paths.

Business Console

  • Profile – a person's record in your organization, including assessment progress, Skills Profile, and resume. See Finding and Managing Profiles.
  • Team – a group of profiles with a team lead, department, and required skills. See Creating and Managing Teams.
  • Job role – a role your organization defines, with required soft skills, values, department, and level. See Creating and Managing Job Roles.
  • Open / Available and Closed – a job role's availability. Open (shown as Available in the list) roles are available for hiring, matching, and planning.
  • Private and Public – a job role's type. Private roles stay within your organization; Public roles can be shared with selected partner organizations.
  • Department – a part of your organization, such as Sales or Engineering. Profiles, teams, job roles, and users belong to departments.
  • Urgency – in Upskill Insights, how much of the required skill set a person has: Critical (0–10%), High (10–40%), Moderate (40–70%), or Low (70–100%).
  • Readiness – in Leadership Potential, how ready a person is for a leadership role, shown as a percentage. See Identifying and Nominating Future Leaders.
  • Nomination – a recommendation that a person be developed as a leader, with a 1–10 star rating.
  • Internal mobility – moving people into other roles within your organization. See Finding Internal Mobility Opportunities.
  • Match % – how closely a person matches a job role.
  • Talent Platform Users – the people who can use your organization's Business Console. Each has a role: Super Admin, Admin, Manager, Brand Manager, or Guest. See Managing Talent Platform Users.
  • Brand – a separate organization created and managed from your Business Console. Its creator is the Brand Manager and the admin entered for it is its Super Admin. See Managing Brands.

TIA

  • TIA (Talent Intelligence Assistant) – an AI assistant in the Business Console that answers questions about your people, teams, and organization. See Getting Started with TIA.
  • Quick action – a ready-made TIA request. You choose the details, such as a person or role, and TIA does the rest.
  • Permanent and temporary uploads – files saved to Your Files for reuse in any chat, or used only in the current chat. See Using Files with TIA.
  • Comparison Reports – TIA reports that compare two people, teams, departments, or roles. See Creating Comparison Reports with TIA.

Partners and hiring

  • Partner organization – another MayaMaya organization you connect with to share selected profiles and job roles.
  • Partner Collaboration – an optional setting a Super Admin turns on in My Organization. When it is on, the Talent Solutions menu appears for everyone in the organization. See Setting Up and Managing Partner Connections.
  • Protect Profile Identity – a sharing option that shows partners protected profile IDs instead of names and email addresses.
  • Partner Shared – the source label for profiles shared with you by a partner organization.
  • Hiring – finds the best-matching profiles for a job role across your organization and partner organizations. See Finding and Shortlisting Candidates with Hiring.
  • Shortlist – a saved list of candidate profiles for a specific job role.
